Best camp site ever. Lush surroundings and great amenities. The wonderful tree cover is a haven for wonderful bird life.

If they can make such a fuss over a few liters of petrol, I'd hate to see how they'd handle an issue with one of their two-hundred dollar plus reservations.

The resort has a policy of requiring a driver's license be left at the front desk before they'll turn on the pump. This is the only such station we found in over 16000 km of driving around the Outback.

Coming forward, she made known that the resort wasn't liable for me forgetting my license. She claimed my request for $100 of fuel was absurd and she was confident in that I had forgotten the license since she found it on the front counter by my receipt. I corrected her by clarifying that I was only asking for $100km of fuel - or about $10 - for damages and that her staff's poor training for an unusual procedure created the incident. She refused this point so I asked her what state issued my license: "I don't know. Doesn't matter." It mattered because if she had indeed found my license - a story contradictory to the earlier admission of the asian attendant - it's only natural to make a mental note of where it's from. She then attempted to dodge liability by stating that there was no way for the resort to contact me because I didn't leave a phone number. I refuted that the phone wouldn't matter because there isn't any cell coverage in the Outback, to which she replied, "There ya go." However, this point fails to recognize the 5 minutes I remained parked under the resort apron while reprogramming my GPS - Why wouldn't someone have noticed my ID by the cash register and ran out to return it? The answer is that the manager hadn't satisfactorily trained the young attendant before allowing her to work the desk unsupervised.

After returning to the car and resetting the GPS, I drove for 50 km to the west before reflecting with my wife on the oddity of the resort to hold my ID. This practice of preempting criminal behaviour is foreign by Aussie standards.

The manager failed to take the time to investigate and listen to my issue before acting. The preemptive and loudly booming "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" from the back office isn't what a customer waiting at the front desk wants to hear and feel listened to. The manager LIED about where the license had been found by claiming it had been found at the front counter beside my receipt - a story which left a confused look on the face of the asian attendant. Finally, the manager's greatest failure was in not recruiting staff with solid English skills and training them to confidentiality handle the duties of the front desk.

Turning around, my wife and I went inside together to request my driver's license be returned. The attendant immediately gave it back to me appologizing for her oversight saying she forget to get it back to me. At that point, I requested my tank to be topped off as the inconvenience cost me 100 km of fuel. The attendant retreated to get the manager and explain my situation. From the back boomed an "ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!" from the voice of who would later appear forward as an overly confident 30-something blonde female.

Excellent Caravan facilities in open grassed area. Good facilities at Lodge with bar and pub food. Great place to stay before visiting Geikie Gorge or the Tunnel Creek Gorge up to the Gibb River Road.

Very nice, large park. Staff are friendly and helpful. Had dinner at the bar last night and very happy with our meals. Not cheap but certainly not mad expensive either.

Upon returning inside to pay for fuel, a gentleman was inside arguing about the price of rooms being too high. After he cleared away dissatisfied, I provided my credit card to the dissatisfaction of the young female asian attendant present. She was stumbling to figure out how to apply the credit card swipe fee to the transaction and suggested while fumbling with the computer screen that paying cash or check would be easier. Laughing together about her poor training and reassuring her that I had faith she'd figure it out, I signed the receipt and left after exchanging good byes with her.
